I'm Not Lady, I'm Ladyboy: The Viral Clip Explained
If you have spent any time on ladyboy TikTok, you have heard it: "I'm not lady. I'm ladyboy." Here is where the line comes from, and why people are still quoting it.
Where it comes from
The line comes from a street interview filmed in Thailand by the YouTuber jaystreazy. It went up on YouTube on 10 April 2022 under the title "I'M LADYBOY", and by October 2026 it had passed 2.7 million views.

jaystreazy later reposted the clip on TikTok, and it took off as a meme. Search TikTok for "I'm not lady, I'm lady boi" and you will still find repost after repost, in every spelling.
Why it stuck
Four words, no translation needed. And it is her own line about herself, not a label somebody else put on her. That is why it lands as funny instead of mean.
What "ladyboy" means
In Thailand, "ladyboy" is the everyday English word for kathoey: trans women and feminine people who were assigned male at birth. For the full story, read Katoey (Kathoey): what the word means and life in Thailand today.
